A week in Morocco – 7-Day Stay in Morocco

A week in Morocco, a change of scenery, and fascinating cultural experiences, all at an affordable price and without the need to cross the globe (the Mediterranean only), is not to be missed.

Morocco itinerary

Of course, you can only see a small part of Morocco in a week, so you must be selective. There are several possible itineraries, but for the first trip to Morocco, Marrakech is an important first stop. Advantages: in one busy week, you can combine this magnificent city with the country’s other two attractions, the desert, and the sea.

Car hire is very practical for getting around the city, as it offers a high degree of freedom of movement. Buses and taxis are also available but are subject to bus and taxi schedules and occupancy rates.

Day 1 and Day 2

Explore Marrakech.

You can stay in Marrakech alone for a week. Three days is therefore the minimum stay required. The program includes the must-see sites of Marrakech and all its wonderful places.

Long walks through the medina.

Time to get lost in the narrow alleys.

Shopping in the souks, a traditional Moroccan Markets.

Jemaa el-Fna Square comes alive at night.

Koutoubia Mosque.

Visit Medersa Ben Yousuf.

Saadian tombs and more.

In the evening, you can choose from traditional restaurants and trendy clubs in the Geliz neighborhood and on Mohammed V Street.

For accommodation, a riad in the heart of the medina will add to these two days a great vibe, but choose your address carefully. Youth hostels are suitable for those on a tight budget, while hotels in Palmeroi are suitable for families and lovers… Your choice of accommodation stay should be considered your comfort.

Days 3 and Day 4

The following two days are devoted to the desert. Depart Marrakech for Ouarzazate. The majestic peaks of the Atlas Mountains (passes over 2000 m above sea level, villages, ksar…) This is a beautiful route with beautiful views of the city. In Ouarzazate, there are hotels, guesthouses, and residences of all categories to choose from, depending on your budget and needs.

Hire an off-road vehicle from an agency or take a camel ride and plan a day trip to the desert. If time permits, you can camp in a bivouac in the desert or head to Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO-protected site where many films have been shot. In short, two days with no time to get bored. It’s worth spending the night there.

Days 5 and 6

Leave Ouarzazate early for the long drive to the coast. In this case, a private car would be particularly appreciated… Drive to Essaouira. Spend the last few days of your trip here. For accommodation, opt for a riad in a beautiful UNESCO-listed medina rather than a modern hotel by the sea.

The latter will enchant you with their unique decor and bazaars but don’t miss the walks along the city walls, from the Moroccan Kasbah to the Portuguese Rock ‘Mogador’, with the Atlantic Ocean as a backdrop. There are also beach facilities, water sports (windsurfing is very popular…), a general atmosphere… to enjoy.

Day 7: the final day

Head to Marrakech, from where you have started your tour. Here you choose whether to stay or to leave back home.

Does one week enough to discover all of Morocco?

As we have mentioned above, one week can offer you a wonderful tour of some of the attractions of Morocco. However, 7 days in Morocco will never be sufficient to discover all the interests and must-see sites of the kingdom.

Morocco is one of the richest countries for landscapes and natural breathtaking views. Also, its culture is diverse. If you would like to go in-depth into Moroccan culture, learn a little about its worthwhile history, enjoy its beautiful landscapes, and visit its heritage UNESCO sites, you may need months and maybe years.

The best feature of Morocco is offering its visitors a comfortable stay and a safe holiday. Moroccan cuisine is unique, making everyone who tastes its delicious recipes want more. It rarely happens that someone has regret after visiting Morocco. However, most of the visitors show their wish of visiting Morocco again, and some of them decide to stay.

Important note: if you travel with a local agency, would be better and quite a little expensive.

Plan your tour trip with us and live an unforgettable time in Morocco.
