DETAILLED ITINERARY

Day 1: Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Valley of Draa – Zagora

Embark on an incredible journey southwards from your accommodation. Our first stop is the illustrious Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and iconic Moroccan landmark famed for its appearances in renowned films like Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia. Delve into the history of this fortified village, gaining insights into ancient Berber life. Following this, enjoy a panoramic tour of Ouarzazate, often dubbed the “city of silence” or “city without noise,” known for its cinematic history and strategic location in the Draa Valley. Passing through the picturesque Tamarit Kasbah, we traverse Ait Saoun and the scenic Tizi-N-Tinififft mountain pass at 1,660 meters. The journey continues through the enchanting Draa Valley, boasting over 200 kilometers of lush palm groves and serving as a historic trade route marked by the famous sign “Timbuktu 52 days.” We conclude the day in Zagora, where dinner awaits at our accommodations.

Day 2: Zagora – Paris Dakar Rally Track – Ouzina Desert

Today, we venture through the desert landscapes of the Draa Valley, passing Berber villages and tracing the route of the legendary Paris Dakar Rally. Arriving at the Ouzina Desert, marvel at the vast expanse as we make our way to Riad Ouzina TGM. Here, enjoy dinner against the backdrop of a breathtaking desert sunset.

Day 3: Ouzina – Erg Ouzina – Ouzina Village – Nomadic Culture

For early risers, witness a spectacular sunrise over the dunes before breakfast. Explore the village of Ouzina, immersing yourself in local life with visits to orchards and a traditional bread oven. Indulge in “Berber pizza” and optional henna tattoos, then venture to nearby fossil mines in the afternoon. Later, return to the desert to meet a nomadic family and share tea with them. Dinner and overnight stay at Riad Ouzina TGM.

Day 4: Merzouga Desert – Erg Chebbi – Rissani – Erfoud – Todra and Dades Gorges

After breakfast, return by camel from the Merzouga Desert to our vehicle for a journey towards Rissani. Explore the vibrant souk of this ancient trading hub before continuing to the awe-inspiring Todra Gorge, with its towering 150-meter-high canyon walls. Journey onward through the scenic Dades Valley, renowned for its striking rock formations, where we dine and spend the night.

Day 5: Dades Valley – Route of the Thousand Kasbahs – Marrakech

Begin the day with a visit to the Dades Valley, followed by a scenic drive along the Route of the Thousand Kasbahs, stopping at landmarks like Kasbah Itrane and Kasbah Amridil. Our route takes us back to Marrakech via the Ticheka Pass, arriving at your Riad. Reflect on five unforgettable days exploring Morocco’s desert landscapes and vibrant cultural sites. As dusk falls, ascend to a panoramic terrace in Jemaa el Fna Square to witness the lively spectacle of acrobats, snake charmers, and storytellers that define this bustling city.
